Beautiful bronze sculpture of Georges Morin (1874-1950) from his early days as an artist. It shows an Oriental dancer, a characteristic motif from the artist’s oeuvre. As a young artist he became fascinated in Paris by the Oriental dancers of the Commedia dell'arte. The naked dancer is in a dynamic, elegant pose with a large scarf fluttering in her hands. The contrast between the body and the scarf is particularly striking. Also the ornaments on her hair and the fluttering ends of the scarf are worth mentioning. The figure is signed 'G. Morin'. The sculpture is in good condition. The figure measures approx 43 cm high.Georges Morin (1874-1950) In the 1890s, Morin studied at the Berlin Academy with Ernst Herter and Peter Breuer among others. He presented his work at numerous exhibitions in Berlin, and his works are located in various public places in the city, including the bronze fountain of a 'fish rider' in Berlin-Wilmersdorf (Ref. Wikipedia). The sculpture is marked with the stamp of the bronze foundry 'Aktiengesellschaft Gladenbeck, vorm. Gladenbeck & Sohn'.
