Franz Xaver Bergman / Namgreb (1861-1936) - cold-painted Viennese erotic bronze of an Egyptian sarcophagus with in it a nude lady - Austria - ca 1925

US$1,103.40

Naughty, cold-painted bronze sculpture of an Egyptian sarcophagus containing a nude woman. A very nice bronze with historical significance: in 1922 the English Egyptologist Howard Carter found Tutankhamun’s tomb in the Valley of the Kings in Luxor. In Vienna this find inspired various different sculptures. Dates back to between 1922 and 1930. The sculpture has a studio stamp (B in vase form) and the initials N B (for Namgreb/Bergman). Namgreb is Bergman backwards, the pseudonym that Franz Xaver Bergman (1861 – 1936) used for his erotic works. The sculpture will be well packaged and shipped registered.
