Classical Maiden Bronze After Picault
Classical Maiden Bronze After Picault
US$515.50
This is a beautiful bronze sculpture of a classical maiden made from the lost wax process 'cire perdue', after Emile Loius Picault. Émile Louis Picault (1833–1915) was a French sculptor, best known for works depicting allegorical and patriotic subjects, and mythological heroes. The maiden in her flowing robe is leaning on an urn resting on a classical column. It is a recast of an original and signed Picault. The attention to detail is fantastic and the sculpture, set on an attractive marble base, is extremely lifelike. Condition: In excellent condition, please see photos for confirmation. In industrial uses, the modern process is called investment casting. An ancient practice, the process today varies from foundry to foundry, but the steps which are usually used in casting small bronze sculptures in a modern bronze foundry are generally quite standardised.
