DESCRIPTION

Antique early-19th Century Italian solid silver pair of large & magnificent statues, beautifully modelled as Neptune and Amphitrite riding a pair of Hippocampus (mythical sea horses). Mounted on a rectangular ebonized base, decorated with delicate silver plaques.

Hallmarked with Italian silver warrant mark (The warranty mark used prior to the French invasion was a series of "crossed keys of St. Peter under a liturgical umbrella" enclosed into shields, ovals or other geometric shapes), Makers mark for Vincenzo Contini, (active in Rome 1780-1810)

CONDITION

In Great Condition - No Damage, restored bases.
