### DESCRIPTION
Antique 19th Century rare Chinese Export solid silver pair of large vases, impressive and exceptionally fine, decorated with repoussé flying dragons amongst clouds on a matted ground, the centre of the vase bearing the Chinese symbol of longevity, top engraved with a cross-key boarder and terminating with a flared neck and standing on a step base.
Hallmarked with Chinese Export marks (900+ silver standard), Maker TC, (Tuck Chang & Company, active 1870-1920). Probably one of the best known retail silversmiths of the latter half of the 19th century in Shanghai, often referred to as being the 'Wang Hing' of Shanghai. Like Wang Hing & Co of Canton and Hong Kong, Tuck Chang sold high quality jewellery, silver wares, jade and ivory. While having its own working relationships with Shanghai-based artisan silversmiths helped create a style other than that of Canton and Hong Kong.
