2652 – Pair of 18th Century English Georgian Creamware Ewers after an Ancient Ro

Price On Request

This very distinctive pair of late 18th-century English creamware ewers were likely a potter's sample, with the front of each painted and the rear unpainted, to show the two options. They are in the style of ancient Roman vessels, each with a spout in the form of a serpent, and ornamented with faces and swags, one labeled "Aq. Cicor." ("Aqua Cichoreum", chircory water), and the other labeled "Aq. Plantag." ("Aqua Plantago," plantain water), both reputed to have healthful benefits.

England, circa 1780.
