To highlight the marquetry, as well as the natural grain of the burr walnut, this table has been French polished by hand. The table has three leaves of approximately 50 cm each, which can be added as required to suit the occasion by a special winding mechanism. Marquetry is decorative artistry where pieces of material (such as wood, mother of pearl, pewter, brass silver or shell) of different colours are inserted into surface wood veneer to form intricate patterns such as scrolls or flowers.
